How to read this page

In the U.S. consumer debt market, mortgages are the heavyweight. The national balance shows how much home-loan debt already sits on consumer credit reports; the latest CFPB month shows how much new mortgage borrowing was opened. Read this alongside the mortgage delinquency map: new borrowing is the flow of home credit, while 30–89 day delinquency is a payment-stress signal.

Mortgage activity can move with home prices, interest rates, refinancing, and purchase volume. It is connected to the housing market, but it is not the same thing as late payments.
