# Your affordability check

This page shows what a new monthly commitment appears to do to the month entered in the MyDebtLens quick check.

The result uses the same Page 2 affordability engine data: take-home income, categorized fixed obligations, flexible spending, breathing-room target, commitment path, amount, replacement cost when applicable, financing assumptions, home-equity assumptions, savings floor, and start timing.

The result adapts to the path tested:

- Monthly commitment: room before, net monthly impact, room after, and breathing-room target.
- Pay from savings: estimated savings by the start date, purchase cost, savings after, and savings floor.
- Finance it: amount financed, estimated monthly payment, room after, and breathing-room target.
- Home equity / HELOC: estimated payment style, amount borrowed, room after, and breathing-room target.

The result includes clarification charts for room before and after, where the month goes, the decision rating out of 100, and savings-floor impact when a savings-funded cost is tested. Gentler assumption testing now lives on Page 2 so the result page stays focused on the reading, interpretation, and next step.

Result states include Enter numbers to start, Looks manageable, Needs a tradeoff, Thin margin, Just fits, and Probably wait or resize. The reading guide now shows Thin margin as its own tier.
